CLINTONVILLE
Play
it Trade it, a new spin on an old concept is taking off here in
central Ohio. The first store opened in Clintonville a little
over a year ago. They have now opened another store in Polaris
and show no sign of slowing down.
The
stores features all the latest video games and products but it
doesn’t stop there. They have a wide selection of used
videos and CD’s- much of the music and movies in stock are
difficult to find elsewhere as they are not sold by any of the
chain stores.
Many
customers enjoy that they uses an environmentally friendly twist
to acquire much of its inventory. They allow their customers to
bring in their used games, videos and CD’s and pays cash or
gives store credit for their items. This is a great way to
prevent these item from ending up in landfills while putting
them to good use: our entertainment.
The concept is working as many flock to the two stores learning
that they can buy videos for less than it costs to rent them.
Owners of the two stores, Darren and Chris, both come from the
area. They sold merchandise at a flea market and came up with
the idea for the first Play it Trade it.
They
have different likes which are incorporated into their stores.
Darren loves playing the latest video games and can tell you
everything there is to know about the newest games and
equipment. On the other hand, Chris loves music and is a movie
buff. His
favorite music is Jazz and he enjoys an eclectic assortment of
videos. He’s always able to point you in the right direction
when looking for a CD or Movie.
Darren and Chris complement each other with their management
styles. Darren tackles the paperwork for the business, paying
attention to the details while Chris has an uncanny ability to
network and put people at ease. Additionally, Darren would like
nothing more than to speed ahead and expand like wildfire, while
Chris prefers to take things slow.
The
store has the making of a hit written all over it. The right mix
of management personalities, the right time and the right place.
Check out these two stores, you may be surprise at what you’ll
find.
